Landscape Architecture Technical Director & Project Manager
Designing Local is a professional services firm located in Columbus, Ohio. We specialize in Arts & Culture Planning, Historic Preservation, Urban Design, and through our affiliate, Landscape Architecture. We have completed projects in 20 states.
Designing Local is seeking a Landscape Architecture Technical Director & Project Manager who will assist in all aspects of planning and design efforts while working on a collaborative team to deliver excellent plans and built projects to clients. Our landscape architecture projects vary in scope and scale, but predominantly are focused on parks and recreation, civic/institutional site development, and public space design. We have several upcoming large scale site design projects including riverfronts, public parks, urban plazas, and streetscapes.
This position is located in Columbus, Ohio.
Responsibilities
Manages and advances the firm’s technical capabilities including CAD standards, specifications, and cost estimates.
Leads project research and analysis related to projects, sites, and clients.
Creates and coordinates technical design documentation including construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Travels as needed to perform site investigations, facilitate client meetings, and conduct construction observations.
Leads all project management activities including coordination of client teams, internal staff, and subconsultants.
Coordinates with regulatory agencies to secure permits and other approvals.
Manages consultant team design budgets and coordinates project construction budgets.
Required skills
10+ years experience in landscape architecture field, private practice preferred.
Active professional landscape architecture license or registration nearly completed.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in landscape architecture.
General knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape architecture and an interest in learning more about the specialized fields of arts & culture planning, historic preservation, and urban design.
Strong Competency with various graphic and design programs including AutoCAD, and MasterSpec. Knowledge of ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign), and other programs is desired but not required. Working knowledge of general computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, and various Internet applications.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Ability to prepare professionally-written reports and memos.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment which will include several projects simultaneously.
Office Location & Compensation
Our office is located on Broad Street in Downtown Columbus. We expect professional design staff to be in the office three to four times a week. Remote work is acceptable the remainder of the week.
Pay Range: $80,000+ contingent on experience.
